food & DRINK

Local, quality, organic

Here at Snomads we’ve always worked hard to make use of local, seasonal and organic produce from small independents where we can. In turn creating the freshest and tastiest food possible. We also make our own bread daily, jar our own jams, chutneys and pickles throughout the seasons as well as picking our own herbs for tea.

By keeping it regional we reduce the impact of food transport and are able to support our local community, giving you a real taste of Bulgaria or Poland whilst limiting the amount of carbon emitted.

OUR FOOD

Our winter package includes daily comprehensive breakfasts and regionally inspired three course feasts on 6 nights of the week with unlimited artisan wines and beers during mealtime. On Wednesdays our staff have the night off, giving you the opportunity to try out some of the many local restaurants which we’re happy to recommend.

Whether travelling solo or as part of a group, providing a welcoming and relaxed environment based around quality food is at the heart of what we do.

Breakfast
To set you up for a day on the slopes, try our continental style breakfast with meats and cheese, bread, yogurt, local honey, homemade jams and preserves, selection of cereals, porridge and our hot cooked options. Refreshing juices, fresh coffee and a range of highlander teas are also provided.

Starters
Your three-course evening meal kicks off with dishes like caramelised red onion and cheese tart with a balsamic reduction; seasonal vegetable soup, crunchy garlic croutons and freshly baked breads; Balkan rarebit, served on homemade baguette and a fresh salad dressed with pomegranate molasses.

Mains
For the main course your chalet team will prepare fresh daily dishes such as:

  • Slow cooked and pressed pork belly, creamy mashed potatoes, rubin red wine jus with braised cabbage.
  • Cauliflower cheese burgers, flatbreads, tomato salsa and a basil pesto. V
  • Fire cooked mountain trout, with lemon baked crushed potatoes and creamy leeks.
  • Red lentil and smoked aubergine moussaka with flatbreads. V

Dessert
If you still need some sweetness in your life, you can then indulge in one of our deserts such as sticky toffee pudding with a rich toffee sauce; beetroot and dark chocolate brownie served with homemade gelato; seasonal fruits crumble with lashings of homemade custard.

Coffee
Enjoy a fresh coffee or a choice of teas including our locally handpicked chai.

The dishes listed are examples of what you can expect, it is not a confirmed menu and seasonal options may differ. If you arrive after 9pm a lighter evening meal will be provided.

We feel good wine, beer and spirits are something that accompany tasty food perfectly. After years of research and some hard work in gathering local knowledge, we have created a network of generational winemakers, spirit distillers and craft beer artisans.

We feel proud to offer you a superb selection to savour and appreciate in all our chalets, this includes:

Organic Wines

  • Red – Mavrud GrapeMavrud is deep, complex and the torch bearer of Bulgarian wine artisans.
  • Red – Rubin GrapeOur personal favorite from the heart of the winemaking region known as the Thracian valley.
  • Red – Cabernet Sauvignon GrapeFrom the foothills of the Rodopi mountains, a magnificent fruity Cabernet.
  • White – Dimyat GrapeDimyat is another Bulgarian grape which has been cultivated for many years. The wine is dry and develops flavour long after the last sip.
  • Rose – Pamid GrapeThe grape of the ancient Thracians. Recently discovered to be among the oldest ever cultivated vines worldwide. A truly unique Rose.

Craft Beers
We are fortunate to have met a few locals who share our love of beer.  The brewers in question are the Beer Brothers. Each season they hand pick a varied selection of Bulgarian craft beers. You can’t find these in any other chalets in Bansko.

Spirits
Snomads homemade Rakia. Double distilled over fire, our Rakia spirit is made from super sweet Muscat grapes. Pure and strong and free for you to enjoy after evening meals.

You’ll sample a selection of these with evening meals, but to experience a true taste of Bulgaria we highly recommend you get involved with our now famous beer and wine tasting evenings or upgrade your stay.

Our chalet team will serve an earlier children’s meal, unless you have sole occupancy of the chalet. If you book the whole chalet and would rather eat together as a family, then it’s not a problem. Just make sure you let the team know when you arrive.

Our children’s menu is very adaptable, and when in resort the team will discuss with you how we can tailor meals to your children’s liking. They can whip up classics such as:

Mains:

  • Crispy chicken goujons with sweet potato wedges and peas
  • Spaghetti Bolognese or carbonara with garlic bread
  • Cottage pie with peas and carrots
  • Freshly made pizzas

Desserts:

  • Apple crumble with whipped cream
  • Baked banana with honeycomb ice cream
  • Chocolate brownie with ice cream

We understand holidays can be stressful, particularly if you or a member of your family has food allergies or special dietary requirements. So, as long as you note such things in your MyBooking account before your arrival we will do everything we can to cater for your needs. Over the years, we’ve had lots of experience in catering for guests with many different requirements; vegan, vegetarian, gluten free, dairy free or anything else, so are confident you won’t leave disappointed. Finally, be sure to let us know of any special celebrations so that we can offer a memorable time never to be forgotten!
